Designated Institutes

The BEV is authorised to designate other institutes to maintain the national measurement standards in metrological areas where the set up of own standards is economically unviable. An essential prerequisite is that these institutes have the necessary metrological expertise and equipment. Hence it ensures the efficient use of the resources available in Austria and avoids costly duplication of services.
