Measuring Instruments for Road Traffic

Measuring Instruments for Road Traffic are measuring instruments used by authorized vehicle testing bodies for type tests or the assessment of roadworthiness of vehicles.

These include:

Calibration of a revolution counter
Calibration of a revolution counter
  • testing instruments for tachographs or EU control instruments
  • pulse counters used for the test of tachographs/control instruments
  • measuring instruments for braking deceleration
  • revolution counters

Verification of measuring instruments for vehicles

Testing instruments for tachographs or EU control instruments, respectively, and pulse counters belonging to them and measuring instruments for braking deceleration and revolution counters are subject to mandatory verification in Austria. Measuring instruments for braking deceleration and revolution counters are generally approved for verification, provided they meet the requirements of the verification regulations. Testing instruments for tachographs or EU control instruments, respectively, and pulse counters belonging to them are only acceptable for verification if they are type approved by BEV. The verification is carried out by the legal metrology authority.

The interval for subsequent verification is 2 years.
