Metrology for Road Traffic

The responsibility for metrology in road traffic shared between two laboratories at BEV.

The laboratory “kinematics in road traffic” covers those measuring instruments, which in a broader sense serve the “road safety” and can be divided in three groups:

  • Traffic speed measuring instruments
  • Measuring instruments for type test and in-service inspection of motor vehicles
  • Taximeters

Here the quantities time (frequency) and length are the base of measurement techniques.

The measurement of the content of alcohol in the breath (“breath analyzers”) is the responsibility of the laboratory “measurement of content”.
