Especially farmers are very much interested in “APOS for Agriculture“, a free of charge service of the BEV
The work of the Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying is not only important for the economy and consumers. It also meets the highest standards from a scientific perspective - as demonstrated by an international award for one of its employees.
Federal Minister Martin Kocher visited the BEV - Bundesamt für Eich- und Vermessungswesen and got an idea of the extensive tasks, services and activities.
By means of consistent digitization it is now possible to administrate measuring instruments including documents and planning and to query the verification status of a measuring instrument more easily. One just has to scan the QR code. How this is done, you can find here!
In 2022 the BEV - Federal Office of Metrologie and Surveying introduced the much-noticed Katasterservice. The possibilities were enlarged, the charges cancelled. For this service the BEV has now received the Österreichischen Verwaltungspreis 2023 in the category “Innovatives Servicedesign, digitale Services“.
International exchange of experience and knowledge transfer are indispensable for the work of metrology and verification. Two important meetings took place in Vienna in 2023.
May 20 is World Metrology Day, commemorating the anniversary of the signing of the Metre Convention in 1875. This treaty provides the basis for a worldwide coherent measurement system that underpins scientific discovery and innovation, industrial manufacturing and international trade, as well as the improvement of the quality of life and the protection of the global environment.
The National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) are responsible for the uniform representation of the SI Units (International System of Units) by means of calibration in Europe. To ensure the mutual international recognition the quality management system in accordance with EN ISO/IEC 17025 has to be approved every 5 years. In case of the BEV this took place in March.
The BEV offers the Digital Landscape Model (DLM) for all of Austria. The new object range Buildings depicts all about 4,4 Million buildings in 2,5D. Additional information such as the link to the address register, functionalities of buildings and clear IDs complete the modern set of geodata.
There are not enough women working in the fields of technics and physics. But right there they can earn much more than in traditional jobs. The BEV - Bundesamt für Eich- und Vermessungswesen wants to increase the percentage of women in these fields and starts already with the girls at school. The Girls' Day 2023 was one of these opportunities.
